Ok so I recently went on a trainer quest I began with a notion of New Balance proceeded through individualising some Nikeid only to reach my final destination once again in my archives. I dug deep, deep into the early 90s and found my original Chipie much loved, much worn trainers still looking fairly respectable and just needing a little tlc to get them going. Since dusting them down they have pretty much had pride of place at the end of my pins quest complete zero outlay happy bunny!
This post is dedicated to the lovely and talented team at Rainbow Room International Ayr. The team are off to the annual Rainbow Room International Congress today where they will have a chance to relax, party and celebrate a great year of hard work and creativity. I was lucky enough to be asked to style the photo shoot for the individual and team entries to the Rainbow Room Awards and the images below captured by the talented Frazer Horswell are the end result. We had 6 hours of fun styling and great team work and I am sure you will agree it was a great success! So good luck guys I feel privileged to be an sometime honorary member of team RRI Ayr!

The perfect opportunity to wear one of my most exciting sale purchases ever arrived on Sunday evening a hot date with my fella and Bonnie Prince Billy who was performing at the equally amazing Old Fruitmarket in Glasgow. The performance was part of the Celtic Connections festival and the Bonnie Prince from Kentucky did not disappoint his amazing vocals resonated perfectly with the atmosphere of the Old Fruitmarket. My trews not only ticked the style box the classic check also tied in with the Celtic theme perfectly if you haven’t listened to Bonnie Prince Billy click the link below and enjoy some quail and dumplings!
I was lucky enough to receive Just Kids by Patti Smith from my kids as a christmas gift and I can confirm it is one of the most touching love stories I have ever read. I have always been intrigued by Patti Smith and after reading her account of her relationship with artist and photographer Robert Mapplethorpe my interest and admiration have soared. Patti was Robert’s muse and he her inspiration their relationship was intense and not without dramatic twists and turns. Driven by the need to express themselves artistically they become entwined in the cooler than cool community of musicians, artists and poets dwelling within the Hotel Chelsea and hanging out at Max’s Kansas City . Just Kids is a must read for any lover of love stories one word of warning though hankies will be required.
K is the only letter in the fashion alphabet today forget Robert Burns (I am a Scot so I can say this) The Bard has been upstaged by the launch of Karl the affordable and accessible collection from Karl Lagerfeld exclusively available at net-a-porter
If you have not had a sneaky peak or filled your basket and clicked through the checkout open a new tab now and have a look the pieces are classic and very wearable. My favourites are Karl’s collars I have a thing for collars my favourite being the orange leather one often sported by Susie of the Style Bubble fame! My 12 year old daughter has dissected a few of her father’s shirts after viewing a “how to” post on customising collars on her favourite site Rookie. These I must admit look great on her but I think Karl’s slightly more grown up take would suit me just fine…I might just have to get collared by one!
Scottish design duo Jennifer Coyle and Lindsay Pagan aka Obscure Couture will return to London Fashion Week on 17 February off the rails and out their minds with their new Lithium Party collection. The ground breaking rebellious pair will offer us “detailed confusion and hurt hearts rich long haired furs shroud floral fantasia, structured highlights and big top dazzle”. Dressing the brightest stars of the X Factor Little Mix and Amelia Lily the daring duo are set for a big, bold and bright future flying the flag for the very best in Scottish design and style. Look out world you are about to face obscurity in a way you never have before!
Dior gives good glamour it is a well known fact and Bill Gaytten’s haute couture collection does not disappoint with fold upon fold and layer upon layer of pure unadulterated perfection. I am in love with these three looks in particular from top to toe the gentle wave of the hair, the simplicity of the make-up and overall timeless glamour is simply breathtaking.

What better way to inject some colour and cheer into the most depressing month on the calendar than with these Tabio tie-dyed crew socks. Found while bargain hunting they are like a wee ray of sunshine in my sock drawer just crying out to be worn. These are the kind of socks that will brighten up the day of the wearer and anyone that might look south while walking past! Half price in the Tabio sale these little beauties are a bargain waiting to be snapped up and slipped on!
My obsession with the classically quirky designs of J.W. Anderson continues with a daily drool over the womenswear Pre-Fall 2012 collection. As a woman that has always borrowed from her man the collection continues to mix it up with masculine and feminine touches very wearable and very very wantable. Once again I chide myself for parting with my double thick sole creepers and crave some quilted leather like never before.
