Sorry for the cheesy title for those that don’t know it’s the name of the bar Tom Cruise and Bryan Brown plan to open in the just as cheesy 1980s classic tale Cocktail. Not a big fan of the pocket sized, wide mouthed one but I do love this film.
So party season is looming ahead and we must plan, plot and purchase our chosen outfits for the celebrations ahead. I try every year not to get caught up in the frenzy of glitz, glam and glitter but I usually fail miserably and give in to that party purchase that always turns out to be a one wear wonder. This year I have decided to delve into my archives spurred on by many past mistakes and the recession and I have unearthed the most amazing lace dress. In my head this has been styled with my new heeled hiker boots and ankle socks a la Erdem the reality…not so sure will do an outfit post if I am brave enough!
This self imposed recession inspired restriction does not however stop me from gazing at the wonders available online from two of my favourite browsing haunts my-wardrobe and net-a-porter and for fun decided to style them with cocktails inspired by each design. Frocks and cocktails are both high on my priority list at this time of year therefore its the perfect pairing.
Halston Heritage Night Fever dress available from my-wardrobe must be paired with the quintessential 70s cocktail the Harvey Wallbanger.
Tibi Chantal Lace LBD also from my-wardrobe a perfect match for a classic Martini served straight up with an olive.
I am in love with this Peter Pilotto Wool Tweed and Leather dress at net-a-porter it is so 80s inspired it must be served with a Tequila Sunrise (first experienced by yours truly in Ibiza circa 1988).
Last but by no means least this 3.1 Phillip Lim Sequin-embellished silk dress at net-a-porter is ever so Carrie which means only one drink…cosmopolitan anyone?
So go forth and order my good people pick the dress, mix the cocktail and party on.
