Make Mango One of Your Five-A-Day

I recently attended the re-launch of the well established famous Spanish brand Mango in Buchanan Galleries, Glasgow. Mango was born in 1984 in Barcelona quickly expanding internationally in 1992 with flag ship stores in Paris and London opening in 1997 and 2000. The brand brings an “alliance between quality product and original design to the modern urban woman”.

The AW 2010 collection reflects this quality and design and gives us lux fabrics, Britified styling and draws inspiration from Ali McGraw and the dreaminess of the 70s. Spokesmodel and cooler than cool actress Scarlett Johansen continues her endorsement of the brand teaming up with legendary photographer Mario Sorrenti in the AW 2010 campaign.

The store opening was a great success and we were greeted by the friendly and chic Mango ladies at the doorway with champagne. Ecstatic shoppers received bang on trend shearling goodie bags and the offer of a makeover from Bobbi Brown courtesy of John Lewis. We were soothed with soulful but not too loud background music provided by a very friendly DJ. The staff were helpful but not intrusive and the general layout of the store lends itself to an easy and relaxing shopping experience.

The collection is wonderful and it would be very easy to accumulate the main part of your AW wardrobe in one shop. Skirts, dresses and blouses in luxurious brocade, wool and silk tempt us from every rail. Classic dresses with the cutest leather bows belts give a nod to SATC Charlotte while 70s style paisley print dresses transport us back to those crumbliest, flakiest, milkiest chocolate ads (showing my age now)! Warm knits and cozy capes guarantee to protect from the chills of winter and at reasonable prices won’t affect our recession battered bank accounts.

Footwear does not disappoint and we quickly fall in love with the quirky granny fur trimmed wedges, clog boots and wooden and shearling wedges. Tribal inspired necklaces and an array of eye catching cocktail rings accessorize the clothing to perfection.

All in all the store opening was a great success and I for one will definitely be back to add to my winter wardrobe. I bought the perfect silk blouse to wear with my leather leggings and hiker boots so I left the evening a very happy bunny thanks to the whopping 20% discount! So run along and make Mango one of your five a day I highly recommend it for a healthy and stylish winter

Thanks to Sam @glasgowshopping for the heads up on the opening and for being my amazing twitterbud!
